Full Event 12-5pm; Kama Sutra talk should be approx 1-2:30pm.
Moxy Brooklyn Williamsburg, 353 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Registration TBA December. Hosted by Shag Brooklyn and Phillia.
Dr. Sarika Persaud will present on the Kama Shastras, the ancient literature on love and desire from the Indian subcontinent. This includes the Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana, as well as other texts, such as the Ratirahasya, Ananga Ranga of Kalyanaranga, and Amarushataka.
These texts discuss much more than sex — they describe how to live in the world as an erotic person. The Kama Shastras are considered to be religious texts as well. Dr. Persaud will explain the connections between eroticism and spirituality in Ancient India, as well as romantic etiquette, communication in relationships, gender, and sexual expression.
This talk will not be experiential or include guidance on sex positions as in Western Kama Sutra classes. This is a philosophy class.
